       Magic Book
          (A party for young children)

Fairy:  I’m a fairy, kind of course.
I’ve come to the school because
            Clever boys and clever girls
            Are eager to work wonders

            Sometimes noisy, sometimes lazy
            And sometimes a little crazy
            Almost everything they meet
On their way to future sweet.

            Only these curious creatures
Who have all above said features
            Can supposedly change the world
Not for glory, not for gold.

I have brought for them a present
            To my mind very pleasant
            It’s a lovely magic book
That I’d found in a nook.

            On its ancient precious pages
There’s much interest to all ages
As the book in wisdom’s rich
            It can entertain and teach.

A boy while playing with a ball finds a book.

Oleh:   Anton, Yana, have a look
            I have found magic book.

Anton: It’s too heavy and too old
What if it is made of gold?

Yana  Don’t be silly, look at shape
It is made of grease proof paper.

Oleh:    Books are real gift and treasure.
They can bring a lot of pleasure.
Shall we start to read at once?
I don’t want miss this happy chance.

Yana:   To lift the cover we need more hands.
Anton, please, call all our friends.

Anton:   Artem, Yanek, Liza, Sasha,
             Vika, Zhanna, Serhiy, Dasha,
Do you wonna have a look
              At the precious magic book?

Children: Can we read it? Let us try!
                Help to open it, guys!
                Please, be careful! Don’t run!
                Hush! Attention! It’s page one!

Page one invites children to the world of poetry. Children are encouraged to recite as many poems as they can.

The Snowman
Come to the garden
And play in the snow,
Make a white snowman
And help him to grow!

“What a nice snowman!”
The children will say.
“What a wonderful day
For a cold winter day!”

What Do We Plant?
What do we plant
When we plant the tree?
We plant the ship
Which will cross the sea.
What do we plant
When we plant the tree?
We plant the houses for you and me
What do we plant
When we plant the tree?
A thousand things
That we daily see.

Where are you going to,
My little cat?
I’m going to town to buy a hat.
What? A hat?
A hat for a cat?
A cat in a hat?
Who ever saw a cat in a hat?

My Dog
My dog is clever, strong and quick,
His name is Spot, my name is Nick,
My dog is nice, my dog is gay,
We are together every day.

Through heavy snow, rain and fog
I’m always walking with my dog.
My father often tells me, “Mind!
The dog must not be left behind”.

Winter Is Snowy
Winter is snowy, winter is frosty,
The ground is white all day and all night.
This is the season when children can ski,
Play snowballs and dance round the New Year tree.

The Weather
When the weather is wet
We must not fret.
When the weather is dry
We must not cry.
When the weather is cold
We must not scold.
When the weather is warm
We must not storm.
But be thankful together
Whatever the weather.

Good Night
Good night, Father,
Good night, Mother,
Kiss your little son.
Good night, sister,
Good night, brother,
Good night, everyone.

My Cat
My cat is nice.
Her name is Rice.
She catches mice.
 Rice, take a slice!
Rice likes green trees,
Milk, fish and cheese.
She hates street dogs
And even frogs.

Exercises
Stand here1
Make a circle.
Hands up.
Hands down.
Hands on hips.
Sit down…

The House that Jack Built
This is the house that Jack built.

This is the maize
That was in the house that Jack built.

This is the rat
That ate the maize
That was in the house that Jack built.

This is the cat
That scared the rat
That ate the maize
That was in the house that Jack built.

This is the dog
That chased the cat
That scared the rat
That  ate the maize
That was in the house that Jack built.

This is the cow
That tossed the dog
That chased the cat
That scared the rat
That ate the maize
That was in the house that Jack built.

Fairy:      In their talents I believed.
                 How much pleasure I received!
Now it’s time to go farther.
                 Hope, you’ll be astonished rather.

Page two is for the world of music and songs. Children sing favourite songs and dance.

Song “I will ride my bicycle”

Song “My name is Margarita”

Song “Bingo”

Dance “Welcome to our world”

Fairy:       Music will forever live,
It won’t die, I do believe.
What is another page? You ask.
It has a sign – a theatrical mask.

Page three takes you to the world of theatre and dramatization. Children perform a play “Three Bears”

                                               Three Bears
Narrator: The scene is taking place in the wood in the house of three bears. They are sitting at the table and drinking milk.
Mother Bear: Take your cup, Father!
Father Bear: Thank you!
Mother Bear: Take your little cup, Baby!
Baby Bear: Thank you Mummy, dear… Mother, it’s too hot.
Father Bear: Then, let’s go for a walk.
Narrator: The three bears go out of the room. In a while a little girl comes in and looks around.
Little Girl: Whose room can it be? (Looking at the table) I am hungry.
Narrator: The girl sits down at the table and takes a cup of milk.
Little girl: Oh, this milk is too hot for me!  Oh this milk is too cold for me! This milk is just right for me! Oh, what the noise?
Narrator: The girl hears the bears’ steps and quickly hides under the table. The bears enter the room and take their places at the table.
Father Bear: My cup is not full!
Mother Bear: My cup is not full either!
Baby Bear: And my cup is empty! (They look around)
Father Bear: Oh, who is this? It’s a little girl!
All together: Let’s eat her up!
Little girl: No, you won’t!
Narrator: The girl jumps out of the window and runs away. She’ll never come to the woods alone any more!

Fairy:     Here let’s stop and look around.
Have you lost anything or found?

Children:  Oh, dear fairy, thanks a lot.
The book had really a magic plot.
It has taught us to bring joy
To every girl and every boy.

Fairy:        Next time I’ll fetch a magic boat
That will take you to unknown world.

Winter Tale
Scenario

Compere 1
Dear guests! Thank you for coming! We’re going to invite you to the fascinating world of winter tale.

Compere 2
Winter? Br-r-r. don’t you think many of our guests would prefer another season, a warmer one, with sunshine, flowers?

Compere 1
Well, you won’t see flowers! Big deal! How about a huge skating rink right in the yard. This miracle will stun you for sure!

Someone painted pictures on my
Window pane last night—
Willow trees with trailing boughs
And flowers—frosty white
And lovely butterflies;
But when the morning sun
Touched them with its golden beams,
They vanished one by one!

Compere2
Agreed, then. Of course, winter comes to us every year. If you look through the window, you can see it. If you go outside, you’ll feel how cold it is. And if you want, you can even talk to her. Let’s call lady Winter with her loyal companions – tender and beautiful snowflakes.
(Dance of Winter and snowflakes)
    Lady Winter:
Winter is the queen of showmen
Turning tree stumps into snow men
 And houses into birthday cakes
 And spreading sugar over lakes
Smooth and clean and frosty white
The world looks good enough to bite
That's the season to be young
 Catching snowflakes on your tongue
Snow is snowy when it's snowing
 I'm sorry it's slushy when it's going

Snowflake 1
Snowflakes spill from heaven's hand
Lovely and chaste like smooth white sand.
A veil of wonder laced in light
Falling Gently on a winters night.
 Graceful beauty raining down
Giving magic to the lifeless ground.
Each snowflake like a falling star
Smiling beauty that's spun afar.
Till earth is dressed in a robe of white
Unspoken poem the hush of night.

Snowflake 2
Snowflakes fall on trees and walk
Snowflakes fall as white as chalk.
Snowflakes fall into my hand
Snowflakes brighten up our land.

Snowflake 3
Snowflakes, snowflakes,
 Dance around.
 Snowflakes, snowflakes,
 Touch the ground.
 Snowflakes, snowflakes,
 In the air.
 Snowflakes, snowflakes,
 Everywhere.

Lady Winter:

I’m the coldest season of the year. When I come all the rivers and lakes are frozen. Snowflakes dance in the air. When the sun sends its rays to the earth everything sparkles like diamonds. You’ll never see such  a wonderful pictures in any other season! My months are December, January and February. Meet them – they’re joyful fellows.

December, January and February appear playing snowballs.

December
Chill December brings the sleet,
Blazing fire and Christmas treat.
I’m the month when snow is nice
When children skate on the strong ice.

January
January brings the snow,
Makes your feet and fingers glow.
I’m the month when wind is chill
And icicles hang from the window sills.

February
February brings the rain.
Thaws the frozen lake again.
I’m the month when mornings are dark,
And birds do not sing in the forest and park.

Someone painted pictures on my
Window pane last night—
Willow trees with trailing boughs
And flowers—frosty white

And lovely butterflies;
But when the morning sun
Touched them with its golden beams,
They vanished one by one!

Compere 2
Winter is a snowball season. My father and I have snowball fights all the time. We used to make huge forts, elaborate designs of snow and ice sculpted by frozen hands, to protect ourselves from the hard-packed snowballs. When I was little, I needed a fort because I couldn’t plow through snow to run away as I can today.

Compere 1
Winter is my favorite season. I can't wait for the first snow fall. It is always so pretty when you look out and all you see is a blanket of white on everything. It is so beautiful. Everything is equal in the snow:  all trees, all lawns, all streets, all rooftops, all cars.  Everything is white, white, white, as far as you can see.

Compere 2

Winter is my favorite season. It is the prettiest, with bright rays of sunlight glinting off the fresh snow and ice sculptures in the trees and shadows playing tricks with your eyes on the ground. The slow-falling flakes that never seem to stop spread a feeling of peace and relaxation. Looking at them fall is always fun, as you watch them flit back and forth in the light breeze, trying to find two identical flakes. If you could just go outside and lie down in the fresh snow, all your worries would disappear. The snow muffles and quiets everything, so if you close your eyes, you could easily fall asleep. It’s bliss.

Compere 1

There are many reasons why I love winter which falls in December. Generally people have better mood during winter. Love can be seen spreading much more around during winter , most people want to hold hands and hug one another more often to keep themselves warm. They want to be home to share a warm winter with family. Then if you are all alone then winter would feel especially harsh and cold.

Compere 2

I'm thankful for ice sculptures and snowmen.  Winter is the season of ice sculptures and snowmen! At no other time of the year can you see so many of them about in the open air! Some of them make you laugh if they're particularly silly, some of them make you smile if they're particularly cute and all of them bring a sense of fun to your day. Why not to have fun making a snowman together?
Winter came down to our home one night
                                            Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed
                                            slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again.

Pupil  1

Snowflakes, snowflakes falling down,
On the trees and on the ground.
I will build a man of snow,
Tall black hat and eyes of coal.
If the sun comes out today,
I will watch you melt away!

                   Children are making a snowman
music
Pupil 2

A chubby little snowman
 Had a carrot nose
 Along came a rabbit
 And what do you suppose?
 That hungry little bunny,
 Looking for his lunch,
 ATE the snowman's carrot nose...
 Nibble, nibble, CRUNCH!

Pupils
The Snowman
One day we built a snowman,
 We built him out of snow;
You should have seen how fine he was,
All white from top to toe.

Pupils play, dance and take photos at the snowman

We poured some water over him,
 To freeze his legs and ears;
And when we went indoors to bed,
We thought he'd last for years.

But, in the night a warmer kind
 Of wind began to blow;
And Jack Frost cried and ran away,
And with him went the snow.

When we went out next morning
To bid our friend 'Good Day',
 There wasn't any snowman there...
 He'd melted right away!

Compere 1

I'm thankful for winter because I enjoy the feeling of freshness in the air when it is cool and nippy.

Compere 2

I'm thankful for the joy of warmth and coziness!  Whenever it's cold outside, I find that my appreciation of simple things like warming up on a radiator, snuggling up under a warm blanket, sipping a steaming mug of hot chocolate, or warming my hands on a crackling fireplace are suddenly increased!

Compere 1

I'm thankful for pretty Christmas lights and decorations. When winter roles round, you know that Christmas is just round the corner, and one of my favorite sights in winter is seeing the beautiful Christmas decorations and sparkling Christmas lights that cities and local people put up, adorning streets, trees, and houses.

Compere 2

I'm thankful for the excitement of the first snowfall. Every year, the day when the first snowflake falls I can't help but feel a huge excitement. Maybe it's because snow can be so beautiful as it falls.  It can be hypnotic watching one snowflake fall after another, and another, and another...  Maybe it's because snow makes the world look like a majestic winter wonderland, as if everything is covered in icing sugar.

 Compere 1

I'm thankful for snow on car windows. One thing I love to do is to leave a fun message in the snow that's on a parked car window, knowing that it'll probably bring a smile to the face of the car owner. I may leave a smiley  face or a heart, or a funny message if one pops to mind.

Compere 2

I'm thankful for snow turning the world into a playground! Snow enables you to turn hills into fun slides you can sledge down, it turns mountainsides into slides you can ski down and it turns fields and gardens into an area to create snow masterpieces like a snowman, a snow angel - or it provides a great ground for a snowball fight!

Compere 1

I'm thankful for the opportunity to wear silly hats and scarves! Warm hats that look like animals, cute scarves, gloves and ear muffs can all bring a sense of fun to winter!

Compere 2

I'm thankful for the beauty of snow-capped mountains.

 Compere 1

I'm thankful for the opportunity to see the Northern Lights.  Winter is a great time to see the Northern Lights, seen best in the dark months of winter. It's such a unique sight - so beautiful and magical!

Compere 2

I'm thankful for the chance to ski and ride snowmobiles!  It can be a lot of fun to zip around on skis and snowmobiles and you can only do this in winter!

Compere 1

I'm thankful for the opportunuty to reunite with family and friend at Christmas.
For Christians, winter time is the perfect time to have family and friend reunited  as you gather together to celebrate the Holidays and have the wonderful Christmas feast and festivities together.

Compere 2

I'm thankful for the magical effect winter weather has on light. When the world is snow-covered and the street lamps shine over the snow, it gives a really special appearance that doesn't exist if the snow weren't there. The way the snow reflects the lamp light and the moonlight is really special.

 Compere 1

I'm thankful for cosy fleeces and sweaters. Winter fleeces and soft sweaters can be so comfortable and warm! Warm and cosy winter boots can also be fun to wear.

Compere 2

I'm thankful for winter drinks like hot chocolate!  In winter, many coffee shops and cafes come up with all sorts of new and delicious varieties of hot chocolate to try. So  many yummy versions to taste and enjoy!

Compere1

. I'm thankful for the opportunity to ice skate. As lakes freeze over and ice rinks appear, you may enjoy the fun of slipping and sliding over them, feeling the smooth ice glide beneath your feet and the crisp air caressing your rosy cheeks as you whizz round the ice rink!

Compere 2

I'm thankful for the increased appreciation for the sun and light.  After some weeks or months of cold, dark and grey days, if you get a beautiful day of blue skies and sun, you notice that you appreciate it so much more! It cheers your heart and brings a smile to your face.

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warm touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home, the time for cartoons…

Winter in Prostokvashino

Matroskin: You won’t believe it.
- Right.
 -Look what’s happened.
- Right.
- it is the end of the 20th century is outside.
- Right!
But we've got only one pair of felt boots for the two of us. Like in days of yore.
 Right.

Pechkin:  Why did it happen this way? Don't you have any means? I mean, don't you have enough money?

Matroskin: We have the  means but some of them don’t have the brains.  I told this hunter 'buy yourself felt boots'. But what has he done?

Pechkin:  What’s he?

Matroskin: He's bought for himself sneakers. 'It's smarter', - he said.

Pechkin:  He's done it even not having a think.  Our national village clothes for winter are what? These are felt boots, trousers lined with wadding, sheepskin coats and fur-lined caps. Even our students don't wear sneakers in winter. He's a booby, a booby.  Tell him about it. Open his eyes to make it clear.

Matroskin: I can't 'cause we haven’t been talking to each other for already two days.

Sharik: Not two but three.

Pechkin:  It's no problem, you can send him a telegram or a letter - the post is made for that.
The things you cannot say in a word could be written in a letter. What form? A simple one or a greetings one?

Matroskin: A simple one, of course! Why do I need to give him a treat?

Sharik: He doesn't want to give me a treat, ha! I don't need anything from you!

Pechkin:  I haven't simple ones just greetings ones.

Matroskin: Unforeseen expenses again! Okay, give me your greetings one.
Sharik , you're a booby.

Pechkin:   That's not right! If it's a greetings form you have to send your greetings to an addressee first.

Matroskin: Okay, so...  I'm sending you my greetings, Sharik, you're a booby! What's to write next?

Pechkin:   They usually used to write about the weather
Matroskin: - The weather? Our weather is nice.

Sharik: Heh-heh-heh! 'Nice' you said! The snowstorm is howling for two days, bow! I don't feel like shooting because of the snow!

Pechkin:   And you stop talking, Mr. Dog. If you'll answer the letter you'll write about your own weather.

Sharik:  But I won't answer his letter! I'm gonna throw him a poker now, let it hit him! Gonna show him how to call me names!

Pechkin:    Why do you need to throw it if there's a post? Now we'll pack it and hand it the cat.
It comes out as a small parcel.
They mailed you a poker in a small parcel, they wanted to hit you by it.

Matroskin:  What did he say? I'm gonna throw him an iron for that, let it hit him!

Pechkin:    Just a minute! It has more than 1 kilo, it comes out as a big parcel.
Now we'll deliver it. And if you roll a cask onto him  - it comes out as a container traffic.

All children gather on the stage and sing a song “If there’s no winter snow”

If there is no winter-snow,
In the villages and towns
 Hardly we could ever known
Jolly days of smiles!
 Never kids being around
Snowy-girl in gown,
Never ski-track's running down,
If there is no winter-snow…
 Never ski-track's running down,
If there is no winter-snow…

 If the summer's year round
and no winter ever,
Never we should learn about
 Christmas' crazy fever.
 Santa Claus wasn't leaping
Up the pits and holes,
River stopped the icy-freezing
If there is no winter snows.
River stopped the icy-freezing
If there is no winter snows.

If there is no winter- snow
In the villages and towns,
Hardly we could ever known
Jolly days of smiles!

Compere1
Our party is over. We hope you we managed to get you warm in this chilly winter day as Japanese proverb says that one kind word can warm three winter months.

Compere 2
Good-bye friends! See you next time.

MUSIC LAND

Objectives: to enlarge pupils’ knowledge about music, to develop their creative abilities, to practice pupil’s communicative skills, to contribute to pupil’s love to music and good taste.

Compere 1: There are different countries in the world. They differ in size, political system, development of economy, cultural traditions etc. They are inhabited with people of different nations and races. Some countries are small, the other ones occupy the whole continents.
Compere 2: There is one unusual country. It is as large as a world. It is as charming as a fairy tale. It occupies all continents as well as big and small islands. It is washed by the Sound Ocean. There is the Waltz Sea, Song Lakes, Symphony Rivers in this fascinating country.
Compere 1: Great Mountain Chains stretch across it. They are called: the Jazz Hill, the Country Plateau, Chamber and Classic Mountains. The major part of its territory is occupied by the plain of Creative Activities. It is rich in geysers of enthusiasm.
Compere 2: There are many cities and towns there: Wood-wind City, String Town, Folk-Vil, Pianoforte etc. Inspiration is the capital. It was built by the best people of the country. There are no borders for inhabitants of this country. They travel much: alone or joining bands, orchestras, choirs. They often go on tours, sometimes take part in festivals and competitions. They play different instruments, compose music and perform in concert halls as well as out-of-doors. They always are invited for ceremonies, parades, holidays.
Compere 1: You can get to the country if you have rich imagination and “a good ear”. Today we offer you to touch the wonderful world of music. Be with us and we guarantee you plenty of music, good mood and only positive emotions.
Compere 2: Two bright teams of sixthformers will lead us to the magic world of music. Let’s invite them to the stage.
Compere 1: Are you sure Aliona these little kids know anything about music?
Compere 2: At least I know we’ll have a good chance to be convinced of it. As for me I like this team. Girls, how should we call you?
Team 1: “Rhythm” is our name. We are fond of music though we have different tastes in it.
As for me music is a part of my life. I can’t spend a day without music. In the morning I prefer fast rhythmical music, it’s like a cup of coffee or a cool shower that encourages and revives me.
Music helps me relax. After school I usually come home very tired and exhausted. I listen to music, sometimes it is slow and sometimes rhythmical, and feel that my tiredness disappears, and I am full of energy again.
So music lives in our hearts and inspires us to victories.
Compere 1: Thanks a lot. But I would rather pay attention to this team. It must be stronger. There are two boys here. Boys, how is your team called?
Team 2: We would like to be called “Chord”.
Compere 2: -  Oh I know, three chords, basic for music. Do you hope to win?
-         Yes, sure.
Compere 1.  - And why are there 7 of you? Do you think this magic number will help you to win?
-         Maybe, but the competitive team also has 7 players. I think we chose this number because 7 notes make such variety of music. They are really powerful.
Compere 1. - And what are those notes?
-         They are CDEFGAB.
Compere 2: Yulia, did you know that? These young participants must be very clever. Especially my favourite team.
Compere 1: Hold your horses. Let’s check it up! For warming up I offer them to name as many musical instruments as they can. Do it in turn, please.
Now our respectful jury have to express their first impressions and give the first marks for introducing the teams and warming up
Compere 2: And while the jury are discussing the matter I invite Alina Savchuk to this stage.
Compere 1: Thank you, jury. And we go on. Today we would like you, dear competitors, to take part in contests:
-         we know music;
-         we hear music;
-         we draw music;
-         we perform music.
Now both teams will get sheets of paper with names of famous composers and the countries where they lived. The task is to match the country and the name. Good luck!  (track08)

Let’s ask the jury to announce the results.
Compere 1: Aliona, what do we have next?
Compere 2: I guess it’s one of the most interesting contests “We draw music” Now all of you will listen to famous “Caprice” by Nicollo Paganini. The melody will sound during 5 min. The competitors are to draw what they feel and imagine. My dear friends I believe in your gift.
Compere 1: Do you know a famous French writer Emile Zola?
   Compere 2: So what?
Compere 1: He once said, “The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work”.
Compere 2: I’m all for it. Everybody to work.
Compere 1: I wish I were so creative! I think both teams were perfect. And what about you, jury?
Compere 2: To tell you the truth I’ve always dreamt to play any musical instrument or sing like a nightingale.
Compere 1: Have you ever tried?

Compere 2: ?.. Let’s ask our younger friends. Are you ready to perform music?
Compere 1: It’s not easy to judge at the competition but we ask the jury to evaluate the last contest and some up the results. (track04)
Compere 2: At this high note I would like to thank every participant of our today’s show, to greet the winners, to wish music and inspiration never leave you. Thanks a lot and hope to see you again.
